Day 14 - Venice!

Sorry this post may be a little loopy since it is 3 in the morning here and I am exhausted. Today we went to Venice. Seriously the coolest city ever. We had to go by boat to get there after our four hour bus drive. The whole city is just one big clump of mini islands held together by bridges and canals. Also, it's slowly sinking. But it's still gorgeous.

While in Venice we first ate lunch, where I had gnocchi (little potato dumpling things) that was really good, and then we shopped around the market for a bit. Venice is known for its hand-blown glass, so I got a cute little pair of blue glass earrings ;) I also wanted a Venecian mask, but I ran out of money. Bummer, huh?

Then we went on a gondola ride! It was my favorite thing ever. It was just the most relaxing way to get a view of the city and really appreciate its history and scenery. Our driver was a man named Antonio, who didn't really talk much but was funny when he did. He told us he was from Australia, which he clearly wasn't.

We then went to St. Mark's Basillica, one of the oldest cathedrals in the world. The architecture and mosiacs were so gorgeous. It always astounds me how these people built these things so many years ago, and how long it must have taken and how many people must have died. It's certainly worth it though!

After that we were late to meet back on the boat so we had to RUN for like 15 minutes to catch it. I've seriously never sweated so hard in my life. It is so humid here and I was wearing warmish clothes, which was kinda stupid. I was literally drenched with sweat. It was pretty nasto.

On the bus ride home, our group played never have I ever and Carlos accurately read our minds. It was kinda creepy, but I have never laughed so hard. Oh, Carlos.

After that we chilled at the hotel for a bit and then went and ate a delicious dinner at a more fancy restaurant. Seriously the best pasta I've had in my life. I'm in love with Italy!
