Day 21 - Summer Palace

Last day in China! I’m really sad to leave, although I know India will be just as awesome.

We didn’t really do too much today. I pretty much slept in all morning and then packed up my stuff. We then went to the Summer Palace, which the famous Dragon Lady built for herself since it was cooler during the summer time. The palace was really pretty and just quintessential China. We also went on a boat ride across the man-made lake. All of the lakes were man-made, pretty incredible, huh?

After that we just drove to the airport, where we said goodbye to David and ate at McDonald’s again. I’m really excited for India, but no so much for this two hour delay we’re having…

Here are some lasting impressions of China:

-          The people here are so nice and really hard-working
-          The food is delicious
-          The Great Wall is as incredible as it seems
-          The hard-core censorship is annoying
-          Sometimes the counterfeits are better than the originals
-          I love haggling
-          The restrooms are gross
-          The drivers are crazy
-          Don’t drink the watermelon juice
